Why I Curate Each Book Box Slowly

A curated Wandering Witch Book Club box featuring Magic Lessons by Alice Hoffman, Courage Tea, ritual cards, a scroll, and a moon phase card

When I first imagined The Wandering Witch Book Club, I knew I didn't want it to feel transactional.

I didn't want someone to simply open a cardboard box, remove a few items, and move on with their day.

I wanted the experience to feel slower than that.
More intentional.
More atmospheric.

The kind of experience that asks you to pause for a little while.

So each box is curated slowly and thoughtfully, layer by layer.

The book always comes first.

Not because it's the "main product," but because stories are the heart of everything here. I spend time thinking about atmosphere, emotion, season, and the feeling a story leaves behind long after the final page.

Some books feel grounding.
Some feel comforting.
Some feel like walking through the woods at dusk or sitting beside candlelight during a rainstorm.

Once the story is chosen, the rest begins to unfold around it naturally.

Tea blends inspired by themes or characters.
Scrolls tied with ribbon.
Ritual cards.
Bookmarks.
Small comforting objects meant to deepen the atmosphere of the reading experience.

Not because these things are necessary.

But because I believe reading can become something more immersive when we create intentional space around it.

I think many of us are craving that lately.

A slower evening.
A quieter morning.
A moment away from constant noise and urgency.

There's something deeply comforting about preparing a cup of tea, opening a book, and allowing yourself to disappear into another world for a little while.

That's the feeling I'm trying to create with each box.

Not perfection.
Not luxury.
Not performance.

Just care.

Real care layered quietly into small details.

Some pieces are handmade.
Some are sourced slowly over time.
Some are chosen simply because they create a feeling I can't quite explain logically but immediately recognize emotionally.

And maybe that sounds a little strange in a world so focused on speed and efficiency.

But I think slowness has its own kind of magic.

Curating this way also means I stay deeply connected to what I'm creating. I don't want these boxes to feel mass-produced or detached from the person assembling them.

I want each one to feel personal.

Like receiving something from a quiet little bookshop tucked into the woods somewhere.
A place filled with stories, candles, tea, and handwritten notes.

The Wandering Witch Book Club was never really about products.

It was always about creating an atmosphere.

A softer rhythm.
A comforting ritual.
A reminder that stories can still help us reconnect with ourselves.

And maybe that's why I choose to build it slowly 🌙
